FM Safety Shoes Program
Each employee enrolled in FM's Safety Shoe Program is eligible for a new pair of safety shoes every two years through a partnership with Redwing Shoes.
Instructions for Obtaining Your Redwing Safety Shoes
Complete the Safety Shoe Request Form and submit it to Imani Sisco (isisco@umd.edu). After the form is approved, you will be issued a voucher.
Vouchers can be used at any Red Wing location for shoes up to $200 that meet the required safety standards (see below). If you select boots over $200, you are responsible for the amount exceeding $200. The voucher will expire 6 weeks from its date of issue.
Selecting the Right Shoe
Redwing associates will assist you in safety shoe selection. Please try multiple pairs of shoes while at the store so that you are sure of a good fit.
Safety shoes must exhibit the following ratings in order to meet FM’s foot protection and voucher requirements:
- ASTM 2413 impact protection I/75
- ASTM 2413 compression protection C/75
- ASTM 2413 electrical hazard protection EH
Redwing Locations
You may use the voucher at any Redwing Shoe Store location. The Lanham store is closest to campus at 8821 Annapolis Road, Lanham, MD 20706.
Check the Redwing website for the locations that is most convenient for you.
Replacing Damaged Shoes
Each employee enrolled in the safety shoe program is eligible for a new pair of safety shoes every two years. Contact FM Safety & Emergency Management if shoes become worn or damaged within the two-year period:
- Your boots show excessive wear and tear.
- Any split seam at any location on the boots.
- Loose or punctured or otherwise damaged sole.
- The toe cap was impacted or compressed.
