Merit Awards

In addition to our long-standing tradition of recognizing staff for their tenure, FM also recognizes staff who have gone above and beyond their duties to model FM values. Merit Awards are announced at the annual FM Staff Appreciation Luncheon. 

Who can nominate?
All members of the Terp Community are welcome to nominate a deserving staff member. This includes staff, faculty, and students. Although not required, we encourage nominators to consider collaborating if they plan to nominate the same candidate.  

Eligibility 
Recipients of merit awards must be full-time employees with 12 months of tenure and no formal disciplinary action or performance improvement plan within the past 12 months.
Recipients may not have received the same award within the previous three years.

Nomination Process
The nomination period runs between November and January. Instructions for nominating will be announced at that time.

Awards

Description: This award recognizes staff with significant achievements across all five FM values. They go above and beyond job and performance expectations to consistently live our five values and further FM’s mission.

Target Group: We welcome nominations from all levels of the FM organization, except staff at the Executive Director Level.

Review Criteria: Nominations must cite specific examples or actions which demonstrate how the nominee has gone above and beyond their core job duties to exemplify at least three of FM’s five values. 

Description: This award recognizes staff who consistently promote and facilitate inclusivity within FM. They go above and beyond their job and performance expectations to implement practices that foster an equitable, respectful, and accessible work environment. 

Target Group: We welcome nominations from all levels of FM.

Review Criteria: Nominations must cite specific examples or actions which demonstrate how the nominee has gone above and beyond their core job duties to live the FM value of Inclusion. 

Description: This award recognizes staff who, over the last 12 months, have consistently strived to make FM better by improving a process or service. Their work will reflect effort or actions which are above and beyond job and performance expectations.

Target Group: We welcome nominations from all levels of the FM. However, special consideration will be given to recently hired employees (less than two years).

Review Criteria: Nominations must cite specific examples or actions which demonstrate how the nominee has gone above and beyond their core job duties to live the FM value of Continuous Improvement. 

Description: This award recognizes staff who consistently provide excellent service and strives to enhance the customer experience. Their work will reflect effort or actions which are above and beyond job and performance expectations. 

Target Group: We welcome nominations from all levels of the FM.

Review Criteria: Nominations must cite specific examples or actions which demonstrate how the nominee has gone above and beyond their core job duties to live the FM value of Service Excellence.
