FM Shines FAQs

FM Shines is designed to appreciate and recognize FM staff as individuals, teams, or units.

Any FM staff or UMD community member may nominate an FM staff member or team for recognition or appreciation.

Appreciation is intended to make an employee feel valued and respected. We appreciate others for actions or efforts that fall within a staff member's or team's core duties.

Recognition provides positive feedback for actions, performances or results. We recognize others for actions or efforts that go above or beyond the staff member's or team's core duties.

Appreciation can be shown to any FM employee, team or unit. There are no prerequisites.

For the Recognition of individuals:

  • An employee cannot be on a PIP or have had any disciplinary infractions within the last six months.
  • Must be an FM employee for at least six months
  • Has not been recognized for the same act or value within the past six months
  • No self-nominations

For the Recognition of teams, the team must be comprised only of FM employees.
 

Recognition:

Use the FM Shines submission form to nominate a staff member for recognition.

After a submission is made the FM HR team will review the submission and pass it on to the Appreciation and Recognition Committee for final approval.

 

Appreciation:

No submission or approval is necessary to execute any appreciative acts listed on our menu. However, we'd like to hear about them. For help executing an appreciative act, or to share one, please contact Damesa Bennett.

Most requests will be addressed within 72 hours (or sooner). Requestors will be notified if their request will take longer to process, or if additional information is needed.
