Susan Corry Appointed Director of Engineering & Energy
The University of Maryland Facilities Management Team is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan Corry as Facilities Management director of Engineering & Energy, effective Sunday, June 6, 2021.
Susan has been with the university for over 13 years and has been a key contributor and collaborative member of FM's Engineering & Energy team since the unit formed in 2013. Susan has played a large role in helping the group evolve over the last eight years, and Facilities Management, as well as the university community, have benefited from her contributions, including the development and implementation of renewable energy strategies that achieved the university’s goal of 100% purchased electricity from renewable sources in 2020, the facilitation of energy performance contracts and other externally funded energy conservation projects that have saved the university millions of dollars, the development and construction of the campus solar canopy project - the first large-scale renewable energy project on campus, and her continued collaboration with state energy officials.
Susan received her mechanical engineering degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and is a Certified Energy Manager through the Association of Energy Engineers. She began her career in the energy sector, addressing energy conservation directly for Pepco for 13 years. She then worked for George Mason University, helping the university develop long-term conservation plans to meet energy and carbon reduction goals.
"Given Susan’s strong background in energy conservation, and her proven ability to build successful relationships across the FM organization, the university, USM networks, state energy officials, as well as with industry partners, Susan is well-poised to lead the E&E unit," said Associate Vice President, Chief Facilities Officer Bob Reuning. "She will be instrumental in helping the university achieve its accelerated timeline for campus-wide carbon neutrality and the advancement of sustainability goals including the transition of the campus fleet to electric vehicles."
As the Facilities Management director of Engineering & Energy, Susan will report to Kristy Long, executive director of Operations, Maintenance & Utilities, and she will serve as a member of the Facilities Management Senior Team.
