Aynsley Toews Joins the Facilities Management Team as Strategic Initiatives and Projects Officer
The University of Maryland Facilities Management Team is pleased to announce the appointment of Aynsley Toews as Facilities Management Strategic Initiatives and Projects Officer, effective Sunday, September 6th, 2020.
"This is a new position within Facilities Management. While the role has been in development for quite some time, we are thrilled to have secured a strong and well-established UMD leader to fill the position and join our team during these unprecedented and challenging times," said Bob Reuning, Associate Vice President, Chief Facilities Officer.
Many on campus know Aynsley through her work with the Division of Administration & Finance and the Center for Leadership and Organizational Change (CLOC), and formerly with the Sustainability Office in ESSR. Aynsley has played a central role in the Division of Administration and Finance's priority work to improve our culture of employee engagement. This will be a continuing focus of her new role with FM. She has broad experience working with staff and leaders to solve problems, improve customer and stakeholder relations, and improve business efficiencies.
Before joining CLOC, Aynsley worked across campus with students, staff and faculty on a variety of education leadership and sustainability-focused roles, including serving as a project manager with the Office of Sustainability from 2011-2018. During this time, she developed and facilitated strategic planning workshops and for the University Sustainability Council, Department of Resident Life and Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Aynsley also led a number of successful campus-wide sustainability initiatives, including the Green Office Program and was part of a team, including FM, that installed over 200 bottle filling stations across campus.
Before joining UMD, Aynsley worked with environmental organizations in Canada and the U.S. She holds Bachelor’s Degrees in both Science and Education from the University of Manitoba. She has earned a Strengths Coach Certification through Gallup, Inc. and is a Certified Fierce Conversations Facilitator through Fierce, Inc.
As the Facilities Management Strategic Initiatives and Projects Officer, Aynsley will report directly to Bob Reuning, Associate Vice President, Chief Facilities Officer, and will serve as a member of the FM Senior Team, providing leadership and support on key projects and initiatives, such as strategic planning, customer service and communication strategy, employee engagement, and many other critical enterprise-wide efforts. She is tasked with working collaboratively across the FM organization, as well as across the University representing the FM team.
