FM Winter Preparations for Academic & Administrative Buildings

Dear Campus Community,

Facilities Management is preparing administrative and academic buildings for the winter season.  As we approach Thanksgiving break, and given the transition to online undergraduate courses in response to the ongoing pandemic, we ask that you please take a moment to help prepare your area. With overnight lows now starting to fall below freezing, and knowing that many of our campus buildings will be operating temporarily at lower occupancy levels, these actions will assist with maintaining appropriate temperatures inside buildings and protecting the building systems and equipment from damage.

  • Check that all windows are closed and secure. Report damaged windows, exterior door, or other concerns to the Facilities Management Customer Response Center (CRC) at 301-405-2222 /

  • Turn off and unplug any electronics or equipment that can be safely disconnected.

  • Please remove books, papers, boxes, personal items, etc. from office floors and carpets. Building Services will be vacuuming/cleaning during this slower period.

  • If at any time you notice any abnormal conditions, such as excessive heat, cold, leaks, floods, etc., please call the CRC at 301-405-2222 / to report a facilities concern. 

Facilities Management maintains a 24/7 on-campus presence. We will continue to maintain and service academic and administrative buildings throughout this period of limited on-campus operations. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
