RE: Cole Construction Project Temporarily Suspended
March 19, 2020
We have been notified that an employee of a contractor on the Cole construction project has begun self-quarantine after coming in contact with someone (not on campus or affiliated with UMD) who has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). This person worked on the construction site and we have not been informed that he entered any campus buildings.
Out of an abundance of caution, the construction company has temporarily suspended site operations for at least the remainder of the week.
We understand the concern and uncertainty of these times. The university is in contact with local and state health officials and will notify the community immediately if we learn of any confirmed case on campus.
Please continue to follow the prevention behaviors posted on umd.edu/virusinfo.
